On 22 July 2010, the NATO Consultation, Command and Control Agency (NC3A) and the German Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft signed a Cooperation Agreement on research and development cooperation.
The exchange of documents took place at NC3A in The Hague, between Georges D’hollander, NC3A General Manager and the Director of the Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation (IOSB), Prof. Dr. Maurus Tacke and representatives of the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems (FOKUS).
The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is the largest organization for applied research in Europe. It undertakes applied research of direct utility to the public sector, to private and public enterprises and of wide benefit to society.
The cooperation between NC3A and Fraunhofer will focus on scientific information exchange, common scientific and research work and technology development in the C4ISR application domain. The parties agreed to strengthen the co-operation between them by establishing a forum for exchange of relevant scientific and technological information through cooperation regarding standardization, mutual support in projects, including development, implementation, test, evaluation and validation of technical and architectural aspects of standards, technologies, systems, and capabilities, and exchange of personnel.
